About Read & Revive / አንባቢ
Books become circles. Circles become voices.
Read & Revive / አንባቢ is a youth-led reading movement for young people in Ethiopia who want books to become a steadier, more social, and more purposeful part of life.

The problem we are working on
The desire to read needs a structure strong enough to survive a distracted week.
Wanting to read is often not the hardest part. The harder part is protecting attention, choosing a realistic rhythm, and having somewhere meaningful to take the ideas afterward.
When reading stays isolated, a difficult week can quietly end the habit. When reflection stays private, useful questions may never meet another mind. Read & Revive connects those missing pieces through a clear cycle and a thoughtful circle.

The reading-cycle model
A book is the beginning, not the finish line.
Read & Revive follows a clear loop that helps an idea move from a page into reflection, conversation, expression, and another reader’s beginning.
1Read
Follow a realistic rhythm and mark what catches.
2Reflect
Turn a reaction into a thought you can examine.
3Discuss
Bring questions to the circle and listen closely.
4Write
Shape what changed into your own clear words.
5Publish
Selected, permissioned voices find an audience.
6Inspire
A reflection becomes the next reader’s beginning.
Our mission
Make reading easier to begin and richer to continue.
Make purposeful reading easier to start, steadier to continue, and richer through reflection, conversation, and expression.
Our vision
A culture where thoughtful reading creates thoughtful voices.
A reading culture where young people do more than finish books: they examine ideas, listen generously, write clearly, and help thoughtful voices travel.
Values in practice
What matters while we read together.
The movement is broad and welcoming, guided by knowledge, purpose, sincerity, discipline, character, service, and respect.
01Knowledge with humility
Books invite learning, but the circle also makes room for uncertainty, questions, and the wisdom of listening.
02Discipline with compassion
A steady reading rhythm matters, and so does helping people return without shame when life interrupts it.
03Sincerity in reflection
The goal is not to perform intelligence. It is to notice honestly what a book challenges, clarifies, or changes.
04Service through sharing
A useful question, generous response, or carefully shaped Voice can help another reader begin.
Trust through clarity
Look at the work, not a wall of claims.
The clearest trust markers are the parts of the reading experience visitors can inspect directly.
A visible reading plan
The current cycle shows the book, rhythm, prompts, and next action clearly.
Voices connected to books
Published reflections remain connected to the reading that started them.
Clear community expectations
Respect, consent, privacy, and thoughtful disagreement are stated openly.

Youth-led means participation, not decoration.
Young readers should have room to question, contribute, and shape the conversation.
The cycle is designed to move readers from receiving ideas to responding to them. That means discussion matters, consent matters, and a reader’s own clear voice matters.
The current chapter is Deep Work.
